臺北表演藝術中心（以下簡稱北藝中心）位於台北捷運劍潭站旁，緊鄰國際旅人必訪的士林夜市，鄰近臺北市立美術館、故宮博物院、臺灣戲曲中心、國立臺灣科學教育館、士林官邸，得天獨厚的地理條件，將觀光、藝文、遊憩、美食串成一條台北的文化軸線。
藝中心由荷蘭建築師雷姆・庫哈斯（Rem Koolhaas）所設計，他將空間一分為三，大玩組合遊戲，變化出大劇院、鏡框式中劇場和多形式中劇場，它們可各自獨立運作，又可結合成第四個超級大劇院。「3+1」的劇場設計，提供不同的看戲感受。一條貫穿建築空間的公共參觀動線，是北藝中心獨樹一格的設計，沿著這條參觀動線，透過玻璃牆，可一窺劇場後臺工作區，直擊排練、彩排或演出，從不一樣的角度「看」表演，接觸劇場創作，親近表演藝術。
每一齣在北藝中心演出的節目團隊，都是關係密切的創作伙伴，北藝中心將給予更體貼的技術支援，更自由的空間運用，更完善的製作條件，讓每個藝術家的才華獲得發揮；並扮演積極角色，以「亞洲共製中心」自許，與亞洲、歐美劇院劇團合作共享資源，將臺灣優秀人才推上國際舞台。
北藝中心不再只為演出開放，只要你來，時間空間不是問題，天天都有新鮮可看的好戲。你可以隨時來，走路來，坐車來，四面八方來。還可以搭配士林周遭的在地美食，好逛、好玩的個性小店，以及匯聚時尚與年輕潮流的創意市集，讓生活日常或人生重要時刻，都有機會在北藝中心創造獨有的感動記憶。

Taipei Performing Arts Center
The Taipei Performing Arts Center (TPAC) is situated next to Taipei Metro (MRT) Jiantan Station and close to Shilin Night Market, which is a must see for international visitors. Also in the vicinity of TPAC is the Taipei Fine Arts Museum, National Palace Museum, Xiqu Center of Taiwan, National Taiwan Science Education Center, and Shilin Official Residence. TPAC’s unique location sees tourism, the arts, recreation, and fine foods coming together to form Taipei’s cultural hub.
TPAC was designed by Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas. He creatively divided the available space into three separate theatres: The Grand Theatre, Proscenium Playhouse, and Multiform Theatre, which can operate independently or combine to form a fourth theatre—the Super Theatre. This “3+1” theatre design offers a different kind of viewing experience. One of the unique design features of TPAC is the Public Loop, along which you can peek through a glass wall at the workspaces backstage and observe readthroughs, dress rehearsals, and actual shows. You will “see” performances from a different perspective, become acquainted with theatrical works, and get closer to the performing arts.
At TPAC, we establish close creative partnerships with the teams behind every production and provide tailored technical support, unrestricted use of designated spaces, the ideal conditions for any production, and give free rein to the artistic talent of every artist. In seeing ourselves as the “Asia Co Production Center”, we play an active role in collaborating and sharing resources with theatre companies and theatres in Asia, Europe, and America, as well as promoting Taiwan’s outstanding talent on the international stage.
TPAC is not just for putting on performances. No matter when you visit, you will discover that there are new and exciting things to see every day. You can come at any time from near or far on foot or by car. You can also pair the experience with a trip to nearby Shilin for delicious food and shopping at the fun boutiques and innovative marketplaces that showcase the latest in youth fashion trends.
